iCuster DMSETMSTR: Set the master node explicitly

The master node in iCluster is a special concept – it is the first node created in iCluster when it is first configured and contains the master copy of the metadata. Remember it has NO bearing whatsoever on replication direction. For example I could have some groups replicating from Primary to Backup and other from Backup to Primary – while my master node may be the backup node. But there may be times when you want iCluster to use a specific node as the master. For example, you may be have three nodes in your domain and may want the DR node to be the master when the primary goes down. Or you may just like the idea of knowing that the Primary always is the master.

So what do you do if the master node has switched to the Backup node and you want it back on the Primary? First, take a cue from the HitchHiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and DON’T PANIC.  Next go the backup node or whatever system you want to make the master, and issue the DMSETMSTR command. Done. Now go home, grab your blanket and make a cuppa!
