Top 7 reasons why you should upgrade to Rocket UniData 8.1

BrokenChainSmallLast week, we announced the release of Rocket UniData 8.1, one of our core MultiValue databases. UniData’s innovative features help organizations in hundreds of industries improve their ability to manage massive amounts of data by delivering fast response times and decreasing or eliminating database management tasks that waste time and money.

Jay LaBonte, President of Paradigm Systems, Inc., is a long-time UniData user who recently began working with the latest version of the database. He says that “I found it to be a major jump for UniData. With its new 64-bit files support, new hash type 3 and “WHOLEFILE” file hashing of dynamic files, database efficiency will be greatly improved, considering today’s big data requirements. This, combined with the other great enhancements to UniBasic, indicate to me that Rocket Software is committed to the MultiValue market.”

Lindsay Rex, Technical Consultant for CACI Ltd. in the UK says “We’re really impressed so far with the UniData 8.1 release 64-bit capability. In benchmarking it has allowed us to process large data tables significantly quicker than previous versions. This improvement will really help us and our large clients in Central Government and Care in terms of performance and data crunching.”

If you haven’t had a chance to read about the new features in UniData 8.1, here are the top seven reasons to consider upgrading.

#1 True 64-bit architecture
Take advantage of the most current hardware without the memory limitations posed by 32-bit software! Eliminate the need to maintain a mixed-architecture environment and see a potential performance benefit when the database is fully cached in memory.

#2 64-bit file support
Experience increased I/O performance and work with larger file sizes than ever before. No more 2GB limit on file sizes for static files!

#3 Security enhancements
Secure your data with the latest in OpenSSL updates, @ID & Index encryption, and other Automatic Data Encryption improvements.

#4 Account based licensing
Allows application service providers to manage licenses and allocate based on the account being used. This way you can prevent lower priority accounts from consuming licenses intended for higher priority accounts.

#5 Support for IPv6
Be ready for the Internet of Things! As the world is running out of IPv4 Internet addresses for all web-enabled devices, IPv6 compatibility provides the ability to create more IP addresses for years to come, and utilizes a more secure data pack in the process.

#6 Install / upgrade improvements
UniData 8.1 has overhauled its installer and update process in this release, with significant customer input into the design changes. See the UniData Installation Guide for full details.

#7 Replication performance monitor
Allows system administrators to monitor traffic, system state, and metrics across multiple publishers and subscribers. Identify performance bottlenecks in real time that could be tuned by changes made in the repconfig settings.
