Live from the 2015 IMS Technical Symposium: Real-time decision management with transactional analytics

The technology you need to achieve your goals in analytics exists today. Real-time analytics is no longer just a good idea, it is mandatory to be competitive in your business. Business analytics was discussed throughout the IMS Symposium in Wiesbaden, Germany. The most critical decisions are made through both real-time transactional and data analytics.

AnalyticsAt the IMS Symposium in Wiesbaden, Germany, Helene Lyon, an IBM Distinguished Engineer in Analytics on z Systems for Europe, shared her views on why real-time analytics has the same business critical needs as traditional core IMS applications and data. Helene proposed splitting business analytics into two parts: Transactional Analytics and Data Analytics, to facilitate the discussion between the IT community and the architects for each line of business.

Traditionally, decision management has been largely based on data analytics. But in today’s world, real-time analytics requires an analysis of time-sensitive data which is primarily associated with transactional data. The technology exists today with IMS and specific IMS Tooling to allow sensor data to be included with the transaction itself to improve fraud detection and to increase customer satisfaction for the business.
