On April 16th, Rocketeers around the world celebrated the 25th birthday of Rocket Software. We, members of the Rocket Software team in Japan, were very busy last week because we had a second thing to celebrate: the launch of Rocket’s new Japanese office!
Rocket opened its first Japanese office in the Minato Mirai district of Yokohama on April 1. Yokohama is located less than 30 minutes from Tokyo, and has a beautiful port landscape and great combination of old and new architectures.
The new Japanese team will play a significant role in Rocket’s z/OS database tools business. The team’s core competency is z/OS software development, especially in the area of IBM IMS database management systems. Members are equipped with remarkable skills and experiences, many with more than 10 years, some with more than 20 years, and a few with 30 years or more!
Yes, we are old hands at z/OS software development and IMS database administration. Furthermore, the team has experts in Web user interface (UI) technologies, who implement cutting edge technologies to help modernize IMS database administration environment.
Just a few days before the office in Japan opened, Rocket opened a new office in Silicon Valley, CA, which also includes experts in z/OS and IMS. During the week of April 13th, Claudia Franco (Vice President in the Rocket Database Tools Business Area) brought several Rocketeers from that office to Japan so the two teams could discuss product development strategy. We had an office-warming party with Claudia and the team, with great food and delicious sake!
We are excited to be part of the Rocket family on this anniversary year, and we look forward to the opportunities to meet more Rocketeers, and support our partners and customers around the world!
Happy birthday to Rocket Software and happy birthday to us, new Rocketeers!
