DBTA Award 2017As Frank Sinatra once crooned, “Love is lovelier the second time around/Just as wonderful with both feet on the ground.” And while he probably wasn’t singing about technology, it’s a sentiment that’s just as applicable in the world of MultiValue software.

It’s always nice to be recognized for excellence, but it’s even more gratifying when the positive feedback comes from our customers and peers. That’s why I’m excited to let everyone know that Rocket D3 has received the DBTA Readers’ Choice Award for “Best MultiValue Database” for the second consecutive year. Rocket D3 and the other award winners will be featured in a special section of the August edition of DBTA Magazine, and at www.DBTA.com, which is read by more than 300,000 IT and business professionals across North America.

It’s not just our customers and partners who see the value of D3, UniVerse, and UniData. A recently published IDC report notes that the Rocket MultiValue Application Platform addresses developers’ demands for access to popular programming languages. Today our UniVerse and UniData customers and partners can take advantage of fully-integrated support for Python on Windows and Linux, and our D3 customers will see the same support by the end of the year with the release of D3 10.3.1. With future plans to support AIX, we see Python as being a great adjunct development language to MultiValue BASIC. It will help attract the next generation of developers, and also provides the ability to leverage existing business logic and take advantage of the 113,000+ packages in the Python Package Index.

Enterprises in the process of digital transformation and in need of a platform that embraces open source languages need to make business application development “quick and simple.” Along with Python, customers can leverage the MultiValue REST servers to develop client applications in the  language of their choice easily exposing existing data and business logic as JSON that can be consumed by tools such as HTML5 and JavaScript.

Congratulations to our MultiValue team for building and supporting extraordinary products that help our customers and partners solve the critical problems they face every day. Thousands of organizations in just about every industry (from logistics to power plants to law enforcement and even making teddy bears) rely on us every day. And judging from their support for us in this year’s DBTA awards, they like what we do.
