COUNTDOWN TO IBM THINK WITH IBM CHAMPION PAUL BARTAK
This year, a record-breaking number of Rocket employees were named as 2020 IBM Champions—13 to be exact. To celebrate our ongoing partnership with IBM, and our dedication to innovation, legacy technologies and legendary results, we want to highlight them.
Over the next 13 weeks, we will count down to IBM THINK with each of the 2020 Champions, and celebrate what we love about our partnership with IBM!
What it means to be an IBM Champion: It’s an honor to have IBM recognize individual, external contributions to their ecosystem.
What I love about IBM: IBM has a huge gravitational pull and the resources to stay the course when external pressures create a threat. In competition, while some battles are lost, the war usually goes to IBM.
What I love about the IBM/Rocket Software partnership: As an 18-year IBMer, I’ve long been aware of Rocket’s growing contributions to the IBM ecosystem. IBM embraces partners that can bring competitive advantage in various areas. Rocket does just that, making some IBM offerings possible, and other offerings better.
How do IBM products improve everyday lives? Book a flight, transact a trade, make a purchase… chances are IBM is in there making that possible.
Favorite IBM product: Db2 for z/OS. I’ve been working with it for 35 years. Others may make noise and steal headlines for a while, but when you’re ready to be serious about enterprise data management, Db2 for z/OS is there.
Favorite IBM project: Staying current can be a challenge, as the technical landscape continually changes. Bringing Db2 for z/OS into the DevOps world by creating Database-as-a-Service offerings is very interesting work, both in the creation of the solutions and the consultation with customers. I also found my role as an IBM liaison to Universities, via the IBM University Ambassador program, as being very productive. This engine is fueled by new talent.
