Allow me to introduce myself
I joined Rocket Software in January as the General Manager of the Power Systems Division. Our division focuses on the technologies that support administrators and developers of IBM Power and IBM i, and a few broader solutions like our amazing terminal emulation solution.
My name is Christopher Wey and I actually started my career at IBM, working in the semiconductor division, marveling at the clean rooms with silicon chips flying off the assembly lines. Over time, my career took me away from manufacturing floors towards product management, acquisition integration, and ultimately away from IBM to Avaya and Carbonite. But, it’s good to be back with a platform I have loved for a long time.
Why Rocket, then? It comes back to the four values this company upholds in everything we do. From my first meetings with the leadership here, I felt them strongly.
Empathy. We listen to our customers and our partners and try to support their real challenges. Empathy in my role means building out and delivering against roadmaps that are driven by customer interactions and exceptional product management.
Humanity. We see our customers (and partners and fellow Rocketeers) as real people who deserve to be treated as such. That means our support team will go above and beyond to ensure things are right. I’ve seen it happen, even in my short time here, and it feels like the right way to do business.
Love. We genuinely love this legacy space. I love the IBM Power platform in all its forms. It’s resilient, robust and flexible. Its operators and developers are extremely talented and increasingly rare. This isn’t a platform to reluctantly maintain – it’s a core, incredible asset to your business.
Trust. Rocketeers trust their fellow Rocketeers. We trust our partners in the market. And, I’m asking you to trust me as I settle into this role and start to deliver against the list of priorities we have for the Power Systems division.
I’m also eager to meet with you, our customers, and partners, whether at an upcoming event or in a one-on-one conversation. I’m also planning to share a great deal more in this blog, from updates on our product portfolio, our vision for the Power division at Rocket, market trends we’re seeing – and areas where we need your input.
I’m overjoyed to be part of the Rocket leadership team and excited for the years ahead.
