COUNTDOWN TO IBM THINK WITH IBM CHAMPION EZRIEL GROSS
This year, a record-breaking number of Rocket employees were named as 2020 IBM Champions—13 to be exact. To celebrate our ongoing partnership with IBM, and our dedication to innovation, legacy technologies and legendary results, we want to highlight them.
Over the next weeks, we will count down to IBM THINK with each of the 2020 Champions, and celebrate what we love about our partnership with IBM!
Name: Ezriel Gross
Title: Principal Solutions Advisor
Length of time at Rocket Software: 1.5 years
What it means to be an IBM Champion: It is an honor and a privilege to be recognized as an IBM Champion for the last few years. To me, it means that IBM recognizes my expertise and commitment to the IBM Z community, and wants me to not only keep supporting this community but will help me as I continue to share my knowledge and promote IBM Z systems.
What I love about IBM: Although I have been with Rocket for a short period of time, I have been working with IBMers and IBM technology for 30 years. I have to say that what I love most about IBM are the people. Although the technology is truly amazing, without the people I have encountered and worked with, I would never have achieved the level of expertise I have.
What I love about the IBM/Rocket Software partnership: That it is practically seamless. Even though we do not always have the same goals in mind, IBM supports me fully, and I too support their initiatives, even when there is no direct benefit to Rocket. This way, the customer always wins.
How do IBM products improve everyday lives? I can honestly say that without the products I work with, the financial industry would not exist as it does today. CICS applications and data are responsible for a majority of the credit card processing today as well as Stock trading. I am told that 87% of the fortune 500 companies run a mainframe, and if they are doing any transaction processing, they will be running CICS as well.
Favorite IBM product: CICS
Favorite IBM project: In the last 30 years I have worked on so many projects it would be hard for me to name just one as my favorite. However, the most rewarding projects all dealt with performance and tuning of CICS and applications that run on it. It really is a good feeling knowing you have saved the customer money and, at the same time, improved the speed of execution of an application.
