Around the world with the Rocket MultiValue Business and Technical Forums
The UK Rocket MultiValue Business Forum, held on May 10th at the Ardencote in the heart of the Warwickshire countryside, provided a great venue for MultiValue customers to meet up with key members of the Rocket MultiValue team. The event started with a meet-and-greet dinner on Wednesday night, followed by a jam-packed agenda on Thursday. Topics ranged from the pending GDPR enforcement in the EU to harnessing the power of Python and a discussion around the platform roadmap.
We introduced the Business Forums late last year in response to customers and partners who were looking for a more intimate venue in which to connect and conduct technical and business discussions. Rather than host one or two large events, we’re hosting several smaller events around the world. This gives us the opportunity to tailor each forum around business challenges that are top of mind in the region and technical topics that are a priority for teams. For example, the UK business track included conversations with partners on expanding their businesses into new countries and markets, as well as the growing importance of supporting elasticity in the cloud.
Aside from networking during lunch and dinner, I took the opportunity to meet with folks one-on-one throughout the day to discuss their current and upcoming project plans. One of the main themes was if and how they were planning on incorporating Python into their development efforts. I found these conversations most informative. Some organizations have already hired Python developers, others are utilizing their existing MV engineers who will learn Python. One of the biggest take-aways for me was that customers are looking to Rocket for expertise on Python integration best practices. This led to internal discussions on creating a Rocket-led Python Project Strategy and Jump-start offering. This offering would be led by a Rocket MV Python expert who would assess your current application and business goals and develop a full project integration plan; from suggested Python packages to assessing development on the server or middle tier, to a reasonable timeline for project execution. Stay tuned for details and availability.
